Just a general inquiry on compression ratios. Does it make any sense at all that a compression ration would drop to 0.8:1 on a tape device so as an example I have an LTO4 drive 800Gb uncompressed but turns out that Netvault writes 600Gb to it and the tape is full. (it is new blank tape nothing on it).
Funny thing is, I have the same dataset backed up on different tapes (also LTO4) but there everything is fine (a bit compression but not a lot which is fine since the data itself contains already compressed files (e.g. jpeg compressed images). So in addition to the <1 ratio, can it be seriously different from tape to tape (having the same dataset to begin with?).
